Stonehenge is a well known and very famous ancient site located in England. Many people are aware of its existence and its many wonders.
It is thought to have been constructed over hundreds of years beginning around 3,000 B.C. (but recently some postholes at the site have been dated to 8,000 B.C.). Like most other ancient sites scientists debate over how the gigantic 2,000+ pound stones were transported and lifted into place.

What I find most fascinating about Stonehenge is what the purpose was for such a seemingly important structure, built over a span of hundreds of years.
